In the ninth inning of a 3-3 game, David Ortiz restored truth, justice, and the American way by homering to right center and helping the Red Sox seal up a 4-3 win. Game Two of the doubleheader is being played tonight because of yesterday's rainout.

Game 51: Sweet 195

Behind homers from CC Music Factory and Ellsbury, the Red Sox chased young Rick Porcello and the Tigers, pulling ahead for a 6-3 triumph. The win was Tim Wakefield's 195th of his career.

Yesterday afternoon at Fenway, the Red Sox brought the hammer, pounding Max Scherzer and a cast of thousands for a 14-1 rain soaked win over the Tigers. The white hot CC Music Factory pounded out four hits, and the Red Sox, believe it or not, are .003 out of first place.

Games 48 and 49: We'll Do It Your Way

Last night, Josh Beckett's dominance, and a 2 run jack from the Captain, keyed a 4-2 win, and this afternoon, a 7 run first inning keyed a 20 hit attack and a 14-2 beat down of the Clevelands on Boston's way out of town. Every starter save Farmer Jed had multiple hits, with CC Music Factory putting up a 4 for 4. Detroit Rock City is next on the agenda, starting Thursday.

Game 47: How We Were Asdrubaled Into Submission

Last night in God's Forgotten City, the Red Sox dropped a tight decision to the Indians, 3-2, on a homer and a run scoring double from Asdrubal Cabrera. Even worse, Our Man DP had to leave the game after some sort of left ankle problem after slipping off the second base bag. Early word is he says he's fine. But then again, he always says that.

Game 46: Timmeh!

Last night in Boston, Tim Wakefield baffled the Cubs for 6 2/3 innings, while a home run from the Salty Dog, an RBI triple from Youk, and 4 hits from Gonzilla powered a 5-1 win.

Game 45: Crazy Eights

Carrying a 3-1 lead into the 8th last night, and with the Bard of Avon having the day off, the Red Sox turned to Matt Albers and new acquisition Franklin Morales to hold the line. Instead they got the Keystone Kops, as a series of walks, hits, and ugly errors resulted in 8 runs allowed and a 9-3 loss, ending a seven game win streak.

Game 44: I Am The Beast That Feeds The Beast

In Boston tonight, Big Jon Lester was cuffed around to the tune of 12 hits and five runs, but the offense finally pulled its weight, laying down a barrage of hits, including a moon shot from the Salty Dog that would have, if the Volvo sign hadn't stopped it, needed change for the tolls on the Mass Pike, in a 15-5 drubbing of the Cubs.

Game 43: Should Have Taken That Left Turn At...

In Boston tonight, the Bard of Avon gave up a pair of 8th inning homers, turning a 3-1 lead into a 3-3 tie, but in the bottom of the ninth, CC Music Factory singled off of Al Alburquerque, bringing in Darnell McDonald with the winning tally, 4-3 over the Tigres.

Game 42: Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright

After both teams were throwing up zero after zero for seven frames at hazy Fenway tonight, the old Salty Dog cranked a two out double, scoring CC Music Factory with the game's only run in a 1-0 win over the Tigers.

Game 41: Fall Down Seven Times, Get Up Eight

Last night in Boston, after falling behind 5-0 because of a Dice K implosion, and trailing 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth, the Red Sox came roaring back off the mat, Ells and DP drawing walks and Gonzilla banging one off the Wall for two runs and a 8-7 win that put Boston above .500 for the first time in 2011.

Game 40: Close To The Waterline

The Red Sox returned to .500 with a 7-5 win tonight, Youk, Salty and Papi hammering homers to complete a sweep of the Yankees tonight.

Game 39: The Commander Takes Control

In the middle game of the three game showdown in the Boogie Down, Josh Beckett was awesome, Gonzilla clouted a three run homer, and the Red Sox wrote down in the Big Book a 6-0 win over the hated Yankees.

Game 38: Law and/or Order, Restored.

Last night in the center of the universe, New Jack City, Cowboy Clay was good enough, and the offense, backed by homers from Gonzilla and Youk, built a lead the bullpen couldn't give back, besting the Yanquis, 5-4.

Game 37: Splat

John Lackey, less a major league pitcher and more a pitching machine wearing a uniform, allowed an appalling 9 runs last night in a 9-3 beating by the rude residents of the North Woods, despite homers from Papi and Gonzilla. After a day of rest today, Boston begins a 3 game set in the Boogie Down on Friday.

Game 36: Rat Bastard Canary Canadians

The Blue Jays flat out stole a win from the Red Sox last night, Rajai Davis singling, stealing two bases, and ooming home on a sacrifice fly in the tenth inning of a 7-6 win, spoiling a pair of Gonzilla homers, along with 3 hits from Ellsbury and Papi.

Game 35: Testing The Limits

A seemingly straightforward 1-0 Red Sox lead after another strong Josh Beckett effort was spoiled by Ace Man, Mr. Aceves letting in the tying run in the 8th inning. The Sox and Twins then settled in for a grim battle, CC Music Factory finally sending a long double into deep left in the 11th, sending the pinch running Mr. Iglesias home with the winning tally in a 2-1 win.

Game 34: Introducing The Hardline According To Gonzilla

Adrian Gonzalez was 3 for 5, including a home run, helping pace the Red Sox bats to 9-5 win in Boston today that even Dice K couldnt blow. Jacoby Ellsbury also had three hits, while Youk and Papi had two each. The Red Sox play the Twins once more, followed by a trip to the Great White North on Tuesday.

Game 33: Cowboy Clay Lays Down The Law

Clay Buchholz, with the team facing another bullpen draining rain delay, stepped back up after the game restarted yesterday , holding off the Twins in a 4-0 whitewash. Clay only went 1 frame after the rain came, but every inning the bullpen doesnt have to carry helps immensely.

In other news, the Jose Iglesias Era begins, as the young glove whiz comes up to the big club with Scu Scu Scutaro going to the DL.

Game 32: Or Maybe We're Just Not That Good?

Tim Wakefield resides in the Red Sox clubhouse in a glass box which reads, "In case of emergency, break glass". Emergency raised its ugly head on Friday, as a Wednesday game that drained the bullpen because it lasted 11 million innings was followed by a Thursday game that drained the bullpen because John Lackey is manifestly unqualified to pitch in Little League. After breaking the glass and sending Timmeh to the hill, however, the sons of Harmon Killebrew showed Tim Wakefield, Emergency Starter, no mercy, battering him from pillar to post last night in a 9-2 bloodbath.

Game 31: He Thought He Might Miss Jeopardy. Or Something.

John Lackey pitched like a man with something better to do, and was battered mercilessly for his trouble in an 11-0 pounding by the pesky Angles, who leave town today with a split. A series with the Twinkies begins Friday.

Game 30: Through The Long Night

In an interminable, rain lengthened battle of attrition, the pesky Angles hung on, reaching emergency reliever Dice K for 2 runs in the 13th to finally close out a 5-3 loss for the 14-16 Sox.

The series concludes this afternoon.

Game 29: Cold Lampin' With Lester

Big Jon Lester was Lesteriffic tonight, spinning 7 strong and striking out 11 Halos, while Gonzilla, Papi, and Scu Scu Scutaro poked homers to power a 7-3 win at Fenway Park tonight.

Game 28: Dream On, Weaver

Last night, the Red Sox took a 3-2 lead off of previously unbeated Jered Weaver and blew it straight up, bringing the thunder that we have been waiting for all month. A 6 run seventh highlighted by a bases loaded double from Gonzilla that brought DP all the way around from first helped salt the game away. Cowboy Clay, his tummy presumably better after missing Sunday's start, went 6 2/3 strong, and Ells, Youk, the reanimated corpse of CC Music Factory, and Papi all rang up two hits.

Dice K left Friday's game early with an injury, which means Big Jon Lester takes the bump tonight, followed by Commander Kickass and Sadly Lackey.

Game 27: It Is The East, And Carl Crawford Is The Sun.

In Boston today, the Red Sox pulled out a 3-2 win, Carl Crawford singling in the winning run in the ninth to pull out the win and avoid a Seattle sweep of the Red Sox. The 12-15 Sox have 8 more home games coming up, four against the Angels followed by four against the Twins before they head out on the road again.
